About TBA Inc.

The Bimblebox Alliance Inc (TBA) was founded in late 2014 under the Qld Associations Incorporation Act 1981 with the following Objects:

  • To protect the natural environment;
  • To conserve the natural values of Bimblebox Nature Refuge;
  • To conserve the natural values of other Protected Areas;
  • To undertake activities and stimulate activities to assist in conservation of existing Protected Areas;
  • To undertake activities and stimulate activities to assist in expansion of Protected Areas.

It was clear that the biggest threat to the Bimblebox Nature Refuge and other Queensland areas of high conservation and cultural values was the approval of mine developments and related infrastructure.

The creation of TBA was the starting point in formally working to prevent the net loss of such areas to the expansion of extractive industries and other threatening processes.

Our history of this is summed up in the Bimblebox Fact Sheet.

The Bimblebox Alliance Inc (TBA) is governed by its Rules.

TBA annually elects a Management Committee. As from the 2025 AGM, this consists of: President, Paola Cassoni; Secretary, Patricia Julien; Treasurer, David Iverach; and Members: Sheena Gillman, Sharyn Munro and Greg Smith.

Volunteer with us

While the core Bimblebox caretaker team has now been released from the years of being focused on protecting Bimblebox Nature Refuge from the threat of total destruction for coal, to maintain its biodiversity and integrity we still welcome and need help with the more routine tasks here at the nature refuge and at its sister property, Kerand Station, a 1½ hour drive to the east.
