As you can see, on our new website we no longer have a full online shop. But we do still have some stock of great Bimblebox memorabilia on offer while the opportunity lasts. These will become collector’s items, mementos of a battle fought and won, no matter how the war turns out.

A wonderful introduction to both the natural and social history of Bimblebox, and, now that it is saved from coal, a rare item to cherish.
Maureen Cooper’s “Bimblebox: A Nature Refuge under Siege” contains stories, poems, newspaper clippings, short essays, many colour photos, a brief guide to wildlife, a brief history of the refuge, and a list of plants and animals sighted at Bimblebox Nature Refuge.
Maureen spent much time at Bimblebox, especially in bird observations. A long-time member of BirdLife Australia, it was Maureen who first saw the Black-throated Finch there. Bimblebox is bird heaven: 176 bird species recorded so far.

A documentary from the frontline of Australia’s battle against coal and gas expansion
Featuring the haunting music of Gurrumul Yunupingu, ‘Bimblebox’ shows what would be destroyed if the mines planned for the Galilee go ahead. Unfortunately the film is still highly relevant. Bimblebox NR may be saved, but many other Refuges and special places are under threat.
When Waratah Coal was given exploration rights over Bimblebox NR for their coal project, shocked co-owner Paola Cassoni felt that the best way to resist would be to show Australians what was happening in their backyard.
In 2010 she asked U.S. independent filmmaker, Mike O’Connell, known for his ‘Mountaintop Removal’ documentary about resistance to coal mining in Appalachia, to come here. His film, ‘Bimblebox’, premiered as the official selection at the 2012 Byron Bay Film Festival.
The story O’Connell tells is bigger than Bimblebox; it’s for anyone who cares about Australia, the environment, climate change, and the power of the coal industry.
